Q. When traveling, who takes care of our yard?

A. The landscaping at Trails West is designed to be low maintenance and all plants and trees are on a watering system that is controlled by our maintenance personnel. If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, you can arrange for cleanup of your yard with our maintenance people, and for a minimal fee they will see that your yard is maintained on an “as needed” basis.

Q. Mail is a problem when we travel. How should that be handled?

A. Trails West encourages all traveling residents to fill out a “Traveling” form. This form offers options about how you want your mail to be handled if you are not having it forwarded by the post office.  The “Traveling” form also alerts the Gate Greeter and Trails West personnel of your absence.

Q. We like the idea of your gated retirement community, but we don’t know very much about living in a mobile home. Are they spacious and pleasant and safe from wind and other perils of nature?

A. Manufacturers of mobile/manufactured homes have brought affordable housing to the consumer. Manufactured homes are no longer trailers that are dark, dank, narrow places to exist. They are no longer flimsy shells that squeak and wobble in a storm. Manufactured homes are big, bright and beautiful with cathedral ceilings, large and creative window features, open plant shelves and versatile floor plans – homes that are a reflection of you and your lifestyle.

Q. What about health care facilities and doctors?

A. Las Cruces offers quality health care and is constantly expanding and improving its health care facilities and specialty medical needs.

Q. What can we expect in Las Cruces? In New Mexico?

A. With the influence of New Mexico State University, White Sands Missile Range, the wonderful cultural diversity of a border town, you can expect friendly people, mild climate and 350 annual days of sunshine. Las Cruces is the ideal place to live and retire. Las Cruces is one of the best kept secrets of the American Southwest. New Mexico is “The Land of Enchantment”, where the charm and history of the area are reflected in your lifestyle.
